In this argument, the author concluded that the GC should maintain as a all-female college. To justify this conclusion, the author indicates that in a survey 80% of the students are willing to remain all female, the author also cites another survey which among the alumni and shows they oppose coeducation too. However, this argument suffers from several doubtful flaws, and is further more unconvincing.

 

In the first place, the result of the survey which shows there are 80% of the students support to maintain female-school is unreliable. The author provides no evidences to imply that the sample of this survey can represent the whole students. the mere fact over half of the alumni who replied the survey opposed allowing the male students is unauthentic too. It’s entirely possible that the alumni who accept to participate in the survey are the ones who strongly disagree with the coeducation. Unless other valid evidences, the results of these surveys are indefensible.

 

Secondly, Even assuming many alumni are disagree with the coeducation, the argument contains no evidences to support the conclusion that the ones who supplied the college financially in that. Even if they really want the college to remain only female, it doesn’t mean they will stop the supplement if the college allows male students.

 

Finally, the author fallaciously assumes that remain the tradition will increase students’ morale. But in fact, I found no relationship between them. Lacking concrete evidences involve this conclusion, I can hardly believe the only-female college do any use about morale.

 

In sum, this argument is unpersuasive as it stands. To bolster the conclusions, the author must shows the necessity to remain the only-female college. We also need more details about the surveys, then to better evaluate this argument.

 

TOPIC: ARGUMENT163 - The following is taken from the editorial section of the local newspaper in Rockingham.

"In order to save a considerable amount of money, Rockingham's century-old town hall should be torn down and replaced by the larger and more energy-efficient building that some citizens have proposed. The old town hall is too small to comfortably accommodate the number of people who are employed by the town. In addition, it is very costly to heat the old hall in winter and cool it in summer. The new, larger building would be more energy efficient, costing less per square foot to heat and cool than the old hall. Furthermore, it would be possible to rent out some of the space in the new building, thereby generating income for the town of Rockingham."

 

In this argument, the author concludes that Rockingham government should build a larger and more energy-efficient building to instead of the century-old town hall. To justify this conclusion, the author points out that the old one is too small to numerous employees. The author also indicates that it’s a high cost to work the old one . However, this argument suffers from several doubtful flaws, and is therefore unconvincing.

 

In the first place, the author indicates that the old building have no enough room to accommodate multitudes of people. But survey the argument, I never found the evidences to show that there are such number of employees in R’s government, so can’t I recognize the necessity to build a new one for more space. Unless more clear evidences, this conclusion is indefensible.

 

Secondly, the fact that less cost will be spent on the new building to heat and cool per foot is insufficient evidence to the conclusion which the new building will works with less money. It’s quite possible that the new one has lager space thus needs more money. Or maybe the new one needs many clean works then should pay more money to the cleaners.

 

Finally, the author fallaciously assumes that the government can rent out their room to gain incoming. Unfortunately, the author ignores the special works the government does. It’s merely impossible to let other companies or organizations work in the government building.

 

In sum, this argument is unpersuasive as it stands. To bolster the conclusions, the author must show that it’s really necessary to build a new e-e building with more space .To better evaluate this argument, we also need more information about whether the new building will be less costly than the old one.

 Nowadays the video camera plays a more and more important role in people’s common life. I agree that video camera’s records are accurately and convincingly, but in my opinion, the camera video could never take the place of written records.

 

In some fields, the video camera reveals a strong advantage than written records. As to reappear a drama performance or a sport game, no matter how vivid words or how accurate description yet cannot match up to the records of video camera. Furthermore, there exist an unavoidable problem in written records which the articles and paintings always be tangled with the writers or painters’ emotions, at the same time the video camera could accomplish it objectively. Another use of the video camera is also draws its importance in current life, that is the oversee camera video in the public who prevent our safety.

 

Nevertheless, I can not fully agree with the speaker. As medicine’s side effects, some the video camera’s shortcoming destines that it can’t do duty of written records. In the first place, the high costs causes it wont be a popular choice in daily life. Secondly, the video camera is more suitable for a short time event. For a long one such as the whole process of a several-year study, it’s too hard to both record and searches.

 

Actually, written records are needed in people’s daily life not just for its convenience and low costs. Written records’ kernel is not to repeat the facts unfeigned. The process of an article’s composing contains the writer’s cogitation, analysis, filtering and regroupment.  Writing will be everlasting valued on the stage of reappear events profoundly and always stands a higher state to the facts. That’s why the historical books are more attractive among popular than fact-films be.

 

In sum, although the video camera has a strong ability at documenting in modern life, it still cannot overshadow the brilliant light of written records. Be with the development of high technology, we should find a equinoctial point between video camera and written records.

  In this argument,the author concludes that we should increase our organic products to gain more profits. To justify this conclusion, the author pointes out that in a local food tasting fair recently 75% of the visitors get the free samples of organic fruit, the author also cites surveys about the growing concern of the customers to the foods grown using pesticides or preserved with chemicals.However, this argument suffers from several doubtful flaws, and is therefore unconvincing.

 

 In the first place, the result of the survey which shows that the customers have growing concern about organic food is unreliable. The author provides no evidences to imply that the customers in the survey are represented to the whole customers. It’s quite possible that the ones who pay more attention at the organic food are more willing to join such a survey. Unless the author can provide other clear evidences, this survey lends no credible support to the conclusion.

 

Secondly, the mere fact that 75% of the visitors in the fair goers requested free samples of organic fruit is insufficient evidence to conclude that the visitors were concerned about the organic fruit. Maybe the only reason is they should pay no money to get it. Moreover, 75% is really not a high scale in free-goods distribution.

Thirdly, even if the citizens in Sun City concern about the organic fruit, this argument contains no evidence to support either the citizens in Sun City also concern about other species of organic food or people in other cities concern about them too. It’s entirely possible that the people in Sun City are richer than other cities thus they care more about the food quality.

Finally, even assuming people concern the organic food, there still have no evidence shows they are willing to buy them, not to mention EFM will gain profits. Absent more valid evidences, the conclusion that the EFM will gain profits is indefensible.

In sum, this argument is unpersuasive as it stands. To bolster this conclusion, the author must show that people over the 90 towns are all concern about the organic food and willing to buy them. To better evaluate this argument, we also need more information about the comparison between EFM and its competitors to analyze whether the EFM will gain profits.

207It is known that in recent years, industrial pollution has caused the Earth's ozone layer to thin, allowing an increase in the amount of ultraviolet radiation that reaches the Earth's surface. At the same time, scientists have discovered, the population of a species of salamander that lays its eggs in mountain lakes has declined. Since ultraviolet radiation is known to be damaging to delicate tissues and since salamander eggs have no protective shells, it must be the case that the increase in ultraviolet radiation has damaged many salamander eggs and prevented them from hatching. This process will no doubt cause population declines in other species, just as it has in the salamander species.

 

In this argument,the author concluded that many species of animals’ population will declines .To justify this conclusion,the author pointed out that the Earth’s ozone layer had been thinner because of the industrial pollution, the author also cited the study about recent years the decrease of the population of one species of salamander that lays eggs in mountain lakes.However,this argument suffers from several doubtful flaws,and is therefore unconvincing.

 

In the first place,the author fallacious assumes that the population of total salamander eggs declined. No evidence is offered to substantiate the specie of salamander who lays its eggs in mountain lakes can represent the whole species. It’s entirely possible that some of the others’ population had increased thus the whole population of salamander has been sprouted.

 

Secondly,mere fact that many salamander eggs has been damaged is insufficient evidence to conclude that it’s because of the ultraviolet radiation. It’s quite possible for the water pollution or the increase of shipment. Unless the author can provide other valid evidence concerning the relation between the decrease of salamander’s eggs and the increase of the ultraviolet radiation,the assumption is open to doubt.

 

Finally,even assuming the ultraviolet radiation is the reason to the death of the salamander eggs,the author provides no evidence to indicate that other species will face the same problem. As the argument mentioned that the salamander eggs have been damaged since they have no protective shells, then the spcies,whose eggs have shells,wont have this problem.Inversely,as everybody knows, the ultraviolet radiation can bring many benefits to some species’ growth.

 

In sum,this argument is unpersuasive as it stands.To bolster this conclusion,the author must show the relations concerning the environment and animals. To better evaluate this argument,we need more information about the studies not only to the salamander but also other different species.

In this argument,the author concluded that the elm city university should promote Professor Thomas and raise her salary.To justify this conclusion,the author points out that Professor Thomas has a great teaching ability because her class has the largest number of students in the university , the author also cites  the fact that the research grant Professor Thomas last two years gained had exceeded her salary to imply her competent reaserching ability.However,this argument suffers from several doubtful flaws, and is therefore unconvincing.
In the first place,the author fallaciously assumes that the great number of students in her class can show her popularity among students.Perhaps the class she teaches is not an important major course so allow more students in.Besides,even if she have a great popularity among students,there also have no evidents to show she has a good teaching ability. It's entirely possible that the good popularity because she always gives students high scores.
Secondly,The mere fact that this two years Professor Thomas has gained a exceeded-her-salary research grants is insufficient evidence to conclude that she has a strong research ability.It's quite possible that other professors have brought more.Absent the information of the comparison,the argument's conclusion about Professor Thomas' research ability is indefensible.
Finally,even assuming Professor Thomas has great abilities at teaching and researchment,the author provides no evidents that the promotion and raise is nessecery.Neither there any fact to show that Professor Thomas has the ability of management to becoming the Department Chairman,nor any evidents the author give to indicate Professor Thomas is better than other professors whos salaries are similar with hers.
In sum,this argument is unpersuative as it stands.To bolster this conclusion,the author must show that Professor Thomas is the best one  in teaching and researching and other fields thus to gain the promotion and salary raise.To better evaluate the argument,we would need more information about the comparison between Professor Thomas and other ones.

未来遥不可及，但又触手可得但又无从下手

思考？

成长？蜕变？

当年稀里糊涂的进入的银杏树，也许是我们见证了银杏树的衰败，或怎么，但这片土地教会我们思考，多少个深夜挂在树上咀嚼的谁的文字，剥离着谁的思想

在什么的边缘，还是什么的深渊，还是什么的什么，有两个月了，但愿马上就能破茧，把什么都想明白

刚看完viv的日志 大概是说随着岁月的流逝快乐和忧伤都化作一潭了

人常说长大了就没有真正的快乐了

我觉得其实是我们把自己的快乐细化了 变成满足感和幸福感 购物的满足感 吃喝的满足感 犯傻的满足感

然后就找不到以前那种不明所以的快乐了

于是我们就以为自己把快乐弄丢了

也许因为我们现在总是为了让自己快乐才做什么 结果中 快乐是1，不快乐和一般般都是0

而以前我们是为了做什么而做什么 做完后怎样都是1，快乐算是附属品吧

在南城就有点民乡淳朴的感觉，总觉得那边比较像我们小时候的那个北京，很生活，不那么浮华，没有停留在body上的精神抖擞 之类的

然后我俩在前门那看到有个“注意安全”的告示，确切说是纸片，被一个栏杆挡住了上面一半

对了还有天桥那几个公式

苏说他没学过 我说他肯定学过就是不往脑子里记 然后胡乱争了一路，不至于，半路

我就不明白为什么现在大学生就不能学点外面好的东西呢，非把那些乱七八糟的学来，对自己也没什么用，就是把各个场合搅成一锅粥，大家还觉得自己成熟了，长大了，会应变了，将来能进入社会了

我老说我们这代人就是看电视剧看多了，什么勾心斗角，什么为己，什么女郎，什么什么，可能是我们从小都被好好教育，只教对的不教错的，好不容易看电视剧里讲点什么灰暗的阴霾的就当个宝，可是你又没那么洒脱 ，没才的人不会玩，有才的人一定能给自己找个好出路，如果一个没有好出路的人又能表现得无所顾忌洒脱的让人羡慕甚至妒忌的话，那么要么是他其实有出路，要么是炒作

我表达不清自己的意思，啊啊

关于爱情也是一样，不知道谁标榜的游戏人间，但其实人人都想往一份持久稳定的，可是谁又都怕受伤，又不肯把心掏出来

以心换心，朋友或爱人都一样

别故意去交往

还有一个最大的毛病就是怀疑，一个新生事物出现时总要思考它背后的玄机，用怀疑的眼光看事物也不是这样啊，对谁都怀疑，

也许最后又归到一个责任二字上，因为我们不愿承担责任，哪怕是对自己的责任，怕交往太深伤害自己，不要付出，怕没有收获，可是连自己的责任都不肯承担的话

我就说上大学后很奇怪，大家说话做事都像电视剧里一样，

五一一晃又过去了。。上了6天的新东方。。。苦~~~

比较爽的是每天开老爸的车从丰台---万泉河---丰台~

苏说那车忒大看我开别扭~~我说也就我爸的车还经我造，换辆qq奔奔什么的估计早瘫四环上了。。。呵呵~

期间还去了趟midi...

比较那啥~~我2号在万泉河上课听见不知道哪在吵还以为是海体有啥比赛。。。汗~~3号才反应过来马路对面就是海淀公园。。。

新家实在是n爽~~害我每天吃了睡睡了吃。。。。作业啊。。。

晚上自己开车回家无意翻出了张周华健/。。好像又回到以前晚上自己听着cd跟路上走的感觉。。cd真的是个好东西，无敌爱，只可惜高二一冲动买了panasonic那个该死的方不拉叽的那个。。稍微坏点的盘就读不出来~防震也超差。。。唯一比较牛的外接音箱还被苏连同他笔袋一起弄丢了。。。从此了结了我的cd时代。。

 把床帘拿去洗衣房洗~在楼下买了卷两块五的手纸~上楼继续头疼一床的乱七八糟~衣服一古脑塞进柜子~鞋贝摊一地 嚄介mylife

我搬家蓼~丰台~~马路对面是大兴……至今没安电话。。。每天看电视看得想吐……

晚上吃的比格，胀死……su买nds了~他说应该叫ids。。。反正超赞`~~~我爱天堂狗~哈哈

这学期tm不爽死了 有件事不吐不快 xiaonei上bit人太多不方便吐 就跟这吐吐吧

 

故事的主角是X女，现在已经跟我们宿舍都闹僵

设她的下铺为A 我对床为B 我上铺为C 隔壁一个跟我们非常要好的女孩为D

下面开始讲故事

 

上学期期末，我们考完试后留校上军事理论课，大概因为我们学校是TM国防科工委直属，上军理课还要早上7点出早操，上午上课下午校内训练，晚上训练+拉歌，还每天检查内务

然后某一天晚上 X的男朋友来看她 她想跟她男朋友出去玩就想让我们帮她跟导员晃个病假 然后我们就起哄说帮你兜着没问题，你得给我们带点好吃的 后来晚上11：30 X回来了带了一个全家桶 因为我们十点军训的年级就必须熄灯 所以大家就摸黑起来吃 最后还剩了两块说给隔壁的D

第二天早上快七点了 叫X起床她赖着不起让我们跟导员说她发烧了不去了（她妈妈是医院的所以假条无限） 因为她没起所以就我们四个跟那收拾昨晚的残局 这时D过来跟我们一起走 就把剩下两块吃了然后帮着我们打扫卫生 跟B一起把吃完的全家桶连着垃圾桶一起倒了

 结果到了中午 X黑着脸问我们今天早上是谁扔的全家桶 D说是她 X就说我钱包根全家捅那个塑料袋里呢你得赔我 D说里面有多少钱啊 X说里面现金有五百你给我500钱包和卡的钱我就不跟你算了 后来过了一会D问她你觉得你把钱包扔塑料袋里也没跟我们说 丢了你自己就一点责任都没有吗 X说当然没有拉 D说那你觉得应该我一个人承担这500咯 X想想说 是B跟你一起到的垃圾吧要不你找她一人赔我一半

后来我们因为不想让D太难受就一人摊了80 D出180 息事宁人 就在这事之前不久刚好B被骗走过1000多块钱 当时X的妈妈很好心就给了B200块钱应急 后来有一天B和X单独在一起的时候B甩了下脸色给X  X丢下了一句 你不就赔给我了80块钱嘛要不我退给你 其实你还净赚了120呢 B回过神来 气得哭了好久

 后来我们就不怎么理她了 也想着寝室丑不外扬SO除了我们6个也没人知道这件事 结果X把这事捅到了班主任那 后来班主任找我们谈过了话 跟我们说反正这样也要接触四年就忍着点

然后就到了这学期 本来气氛已经缓和一点了 后来X把笔记本拿来 每天不是玩电脑就是看书到2、3点（我们12点断电） 因为B有点神经衰弱所以失眠 我们一般到11：00左右就关大灯安静了让B能尽快睡着（虽说我有时做得不太好） 不过自从X拿笔记本来天天打键盘开应急灯偶尔再磕磕瓜子吃吃零食到2、3点 B也就得等3点多X消停了才能睡着 结果一般到6点多外面洗漱的人一多B就又会被吵醒了 X倒是常常睡到十点十一点 然后严重的睡眠不足搞得B偏头痛加重差点住院 A跟X说过好几次晚上别把灯开那么亮X总是嘴上答应好好的一到晚上还照旧 最可气的是有一天晚上（那天我去通宵了。。）X大概是在玩游戏啪啪啪一通点鼠标到2点 B实在忍不了了说X你再干吗阿 X说我在看邓论课件 B说噢那还要看多久阿已经两点了艾 X说还得一会呢你先睡吧好好休息 我就靠了

还有垃圾袋问题 可以说X从入学就没怎么管过寝室卫生 这学期关系僵了就更没管过 个人卫生就更甭提了 X床上的垃圾袋从来就是满了一个装第二个，满了第二个装第三个…… 有一天A看X床尾一垃圾袋里果皮都发霉了，袋口还飞着小虫子 就说X你快把垃圾袋扔了吧都生虫子了 X说好的没问题明早就扔 结果第二天晚上还没扔A就又说了一遍 X又说好的没问题 到了第三天晚上A实在受不了了就把那垃圾袋扔了 X回来A跟她说我把你垃圾袋扔了阿 X还一脸无辜的装x "啊？~那它多可怜啊~"

结果某次X旷课被全校记名 导员让写检讨 她在检讨里写寝室关系怎么怎么冷漠每天怎么怎么失眠到深夜 殊不知敬爱的导员根本没怎么鸟这些检讨就扔在办公室了 结果被我们一览无余（我、A、B都在学生会）我就靠，每天睡到12点晚上两点前能睡着才怪

 

其实我们都在怀疑她在别人面前会不会把我们形容成什么样的禽兽恶魔之类的 连班主任导员她都敢这么装可怜诉苦 而且我们也了解甲醇女的泪海战术HOW楚楚可怜 要是有BIT的弟兄姐妹看到也算帮我们拨乱反正一下吧 

 不知道从哪天起（好像是交电费那天后） X同学的台灯就再没关过 每天早上起床开开台灯收拾好就尥蹶子走人 台灯就亮一个白天 刚开始我们以为是忘了 过了两三天都这样就问她 你怎么不关台灯阿 她说 哦我下了床就懒得上去了

还有考试期间 某天下午考数分 头天晚上大家都11：30就上床了 X就又开始了活动时间 大概是复习得不好 哗啦啦拉躁了吧叽的翻书开厅可乐溘俩瓜子 她折腾到2点我们也2点才睡着 这还不算 第2天早上6：30她老人家起床了 蹎了之后又留下台灯长明 搞得我们不到7点也全醒了

最后某天下午考高代 我们算有了经验 头天晚上A跟X说你晚上不要开灯了行不行明天要考试 X说我尽量把灯往里 A说往里也很晃 X说那我蒙被子里好了 后来还真把应急灯蒙被子里了 我们一阵欣喜 然后X去了趟厕所 回来 就又把灯拿了出来 我们把床帘拉好 有眼罩的备上 心说至少今晚晚点睡着了明早还能睡个懒觉 （后来我2点左右睡着的 B说X又弄到3点然后B三点多才睡者）谁成想第二天早上6：00 X的闹钟开始哇啦哇啦唱 唱了有一分钟 然后就又是熟悉的台灯光书声哗啦 搞得我跟B六点醒后再也睡不着了 A和C醒了一下就开始做噩梦 到了7点40X睡了我们几个是死睡不着了 气得我们从8点就开始大声聊天 说睡得多不爽 X到也听出来了 9点多就走了

这学期传言教育网终于能上msn了，那天我试着开了一下俺space，结果等我收拾好破衣烂衫澡筐一卡通千里迢迢奔去洗了个澡回来后才打开一半页面，我就褶了

他娘的大学 真没劲

连点好玩的人都没有

整天都得软磨硬泡着苏同学陪我奔东奔西 可有些东西还是need诸位姐姐妹妹们一起撒丫子奔才有意思啊 啊我的附中生活 我的阿匝 我的刘云飞  我的mini同学 还有我的**——各位

大学永远只有一周前就约好的干吗头一晚上临时变卦 永远没有坐教室里一拍大腿下了课就奔哪了

真的不高兴玩space了，~慢啊慢。。。

在家上的时候永远是乱码~回学校又要用代理死慢死慢~

我咋在家就死发不了文章呢，

现在在学校~每天上午上两个小时社会实践课。。。10：00-24：00趁机出去玩。。还好这几天比较凉快

换了张床到窗口边~~感觉空间骤然大了~~虽然床上还是一样乱，呵呵。。。电脑桌又搬回床上，可以天天看电影，呵呵~爽的

真是无聊啊~可以一天对着电脑挂8个小时q..虽说就算一天挂100个小时也只算一天的

前两周军训，把这个月的提前都晒回来了。。不过这还只是校内训~天天上军理课，学学拉歌，站站军姿什么的，最大的收获是学会了在教室坐的板直的睡。。。变了态了的是还要求把宿舍清空，床头不能有书床下只能3双鞋什么的，搞得把所有东西都打包藏床底下了，柜子还是一拉开就掉东西的。。俺们连载合唱比赛英勇的如愿拿到了一面小红旗（虽然我比较丢人）~女懒就打得比较郁闷了~不过也算拿个小黄旗。。。我就汗了~~

又快放假了阿。。虽说只有5周啊，~不过想想。。到下个假期我大概就跟一群谁谁谁谁们坐在新东方上托或者gre了把/。。。
